Obama and Almost Obama

President Obama came to Elmendorf Air Force based on Thursday. I almost got to see him...almost (small detail about having a military ID). However, Mike was there for the speech.

Our Activities

Eating, scrapbooking, playing with the baby, walking the neighborhood.

Outdoor and Indoor Animals

Mike, Eli and I watched the moose walk by on Friday (it is the street in front of Char's house).

The cats like to watch the ravens cavort outside.

More baby Eli!

Popping Up

I spent the afternoon at Pecos National Historical Park on Saturday. For $3 entrance and $2 for the 1:30 ranger program, I got a guided van tour (yup, we rode in the government van). The program topic was the Civil War in New Mexico. Ranger Don, the edge of the van, and the three others on the tour are in the photo below.

But even though the tour lasted most of the afternoon, I still took a quick trip along the ruins trail. For more about Pecos, visit: http://www.nps.gov/peco/index.htm

You never know where I'll pop up!

Market

Here's a couple photos from the market, where you would have found me at 7:00 a.m. Saturday morning. Yes, I know, most of you can't believe that I was there that early. But this makes 2 Saturdays in a row! The chili photo shows the green chili roaster.

Friday Night at the Ashram

On Friday evening, I ventured to Espanola for a special event at the ashram called "Praising the One! Sacred Music and Chants from the Jewish, Catholic, Vedic, Sufi, and Sikh Traditions." Before the music, there was yoga, a vegetarian Indian dinner, tea, and general socializing. People were very nice. The first part of the performance featured singers and musicians from each faith. The second part had all the groups onstage together - apparently they had been rehearsing for weeks so that the faiths could intermingle the songs.

Here's a photo of the "musical unity" performance and a brief music clip (there is no video, just audio). Sorry if it sounds a little garbled in spots - its always a toss up between file size and sound quality! But you'll get the general idea.
This is the website for the ashram and the event flyer is still shown at the bottom of the page: http://www.espanolaashram.com/pages/

My Temporary Home

Here's the casita rental I have for two months.

Yesterday and Today

On Monday, it was about 70 degrees at lunch time. Yesterday it was raining when I left my casita rental, sleeting along the way to work, and snowing at work (over a whole 2 miles of driving!). The sun came back out this afternoon.

The New Office

My new workplace is the NPS Intermountain Regional Office - National Trails Office.

My door is off this porch.
Me in the courtyard

My door is the one on the right.

Let's just say I've got a lot of organizing to do.
